IMPORTANT: SCHOOL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM TEST TOMORROW
It’s that time of year when weather alerts, school cancellations, delays, and other important announcements can happen quickly. We want to make sure our communication system is ready to reach every family when you need the information most!
TOMORROW AT 2:00 PM, California R-1 will send a TEST communication.
You should receive the test message through ALL THREE communication methods:
Phone call
Text message
Email
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PHONE CALLS:
When you receive a call from the school, please listen to the voicemail before calling the school back. The reason for the call will be included in the voicemail. In many cases, the call will simply be an automated recording of an alert, and you will NOT need to call the school back.
Are you opted in to text messages?
If you aren’t sure, simply text START to 98900 to make sure you are opted in to receive text alerts.
Tomorrow at 2:00 PM, please make sure you receive all THREE:
Phone call
Text message
Email
If you do not receive all three, please email ashley.benton@californiak12.org so we can help make sure your contact information and communication preferences are set up correctly.
We want to be ready before the next weather alert or important school announcement comes our way!
Thank you for helping us make sure California R-1 can keep your family informed!

Today, we’re taking a moment to recognize and thank all of our incredible California R-1 coaches!
Coaches do so much more than teach a sport. They teach teamwork, discipline, perseverance, leadership, and confidence while serving as mentors and role models for our students both on and off the field.
From early mornings and late nights to practices, games, travel, and everything in between, our coaches give countless hours to help our students grow—not only as athletes, but as people.
Thank you to all of our coaches for the time, energy, encouragement, and heart you pour into our Pinto students. Your impact goes far beyond the scoreboard, and we appreciate all you do!
Happy National Coaches Day, Pinto Coaches!
It’s a great day to be a Pinto!

🧹🔧 Celebrating Our Custodial & Maintenance Crew!
October 2 is Custodial & Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day!
From the summer months spent preparing our buildings for a new school year to the countless hours they put in throughout the year, our custodial and maintenance crews work hard behind the scenes to keep our schools safe, clean, welcoming, and running smoothly.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team! Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact they make is felt by our students, staff, and families every single day.
Thank you to our amazing custodial and maintenance crew for everything you do for our district! We appreciate your dedication, hard work, and commitment to our schools and our students.
We are proud to have one of the best teams around! ❤️

Pinto Pride is off to an AMAZING start!
Our very first round of Pinto Pride voting brought in more than 300 votes, with more than 100 different staff members receiving nominations! What an incredible way to kick off a year of celebrating the people who make a difference for our students every single day.
Congratulations to our September Pinto Pride winners:
TEACHER WINNER: Dayton Felber – California Middle School
SUPPORT STAFF WINNER: Tawnia Flora – California Middle School
Both Dayton and Tawnia received the most votes in their respective categories, and their nominations were filled with kind words from students and staff about the impact they make each day.
Students shared that Mr. Felber makes learning fun, helps when they are struggling, checks in on students, and creates a classroom they look forward to being in. Mrs. Flora was recognized for going above and beyond for students, always being willing to help, and making sure students feel supported and cared for.
We are so excited to celebrate these two amazing Pintos! And this year, Pinto Pride has gotten even better — our winners will not only receive an awesome prize basket, but they will also receive a TRAVELING TROPHY to proudly display throughout the month!
A HUGE THANK YOU to our incredible Pinto Pride sponsors who make this recognition possible:
